We have started investigating some materials. Today we worked with clay and thought about its properties and qualities.
We began by 'harvesting' words about clay with scrap pieces.
Then in pairs we made two different types of pots.
One person in each pair made a pinch pot and the other made a coil pot.
It wasn't as easy as it looks - but good fun...
Here are the words which we gathered about clay:
Hi Class 5. The pots that we made look really cool I did a pinch pot and I was paired up with Michaela so she did a coil pot. My pot turned out huge I could have a meal in it. Scott

Hi class 5 I really enjoyed doing the clay making because it felt very gooey and squishy and the fun bit was when we made the pots. I have a question for you how many materials that are liquid in the world?. I hope if any one makes a model out of clay it will be really fun and I wish I could do this again some day at school or at home.

Hi class 5
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed making the pots because its a new activity to me that I have never done before. I found the bit when you roll the clay into a long strip at the start hard but at the end it became easier to do. I wonder how people find so much clay and how long it takes them to gather it up and do they use anything other materials to gather it up with? I have never done this activity before with anything else so it was very fun.
