We have started a new maths channel for P6 number work. There will be a link on the side bar to that shortly. Meanwhile please have a look at our latest batch of videos which explain some of the strategies for mental subtraction we have been practising. The main thing with strategies is knowing when to use which strategy. There are more strategies - some are unique, individual and very complex - but these are the ones which we think are the most clear and efficient. Our aim was to also make sure our explanations were clear visually and verbally.

It was very interesting making our stratigies I was i a group with Brogan Jack we were doing splitting I thought we were doing pretty well are stratigie worked and we completed the work and we did very well on our video we explained it and we split up the work so everyone would get a shot of talking. ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the subtraction videos. I liked listening to other peoples videos and making and practicing my video. I was in a group with Aiden and Lauren. We did subtracting multiples of a hundred. The good thing about my group was the cooperation skills and the way we had a forward plan. All we needed to improve was sticking to the plan and remembering what to say.

It was fun doing the different strategies for subtraction. My group did multiples of 100 we did the sum 7600 take away 800 doing our strategie it was easy. Aiden

Hi everyone it was fun doing this group activity in my group I had Daisy and Angus. First we said who was doing what part then after that we watched two other groups and they watched us do ours it was really fun and I hope we can do something like this again. Kaylen

Last week we made maths videos I was in a group with Declen and Robert we did the subtracting multiples of 100 4 digit we got a little bit of time to practice the sum when we made the video i got to say remember to put the small number on the left hand side and the big number on the right hand side and then after the sum I got to add it up Cameron

ReplyDeleteI had lots of fun making maths subtraction videos in groups, I was in a group with Scott and Erin.K but Erin was ill so she couldn't do it.
We did 3 different stratagies, number line, doing it in your head but still writing it down and making your jumps bigger but quicker.
I had lots of fun doing Math videos and I hope we can do them again next term.

Hi everyone I really enjoyed making our videos on subtraction because we have to think about how we explain it. I also enjoy listening to over peoples videosand thinking about how well they did. ReplyDeleteHi Class 6, I really enjoyed watching your videos showing different mental strategies for subtraction. I liked how you shared the work between the different people in your group. You gave clear explanations about your strategy and kept a good pace. Some of the groups shared why they were chunking the numbers in a particular way. I found this useful because it helped me to understand the strategy and how I could apply it again in the future using a different set of numbers.
