Bag the Bruck
On Tuesday
morning class 6 went to Scapa beach for a bag the bruck trip. It was windy and
wet but we had wrapped up well. We went in two groups and we went on the bus to
get there. Group one went first and then group two. Went to the far end and
worked our way back, then group two arrived and worked towards them.
We found old
bits of net and plastic. Some of us had to work in teams to get the bigger bits
of rope out of the sand. We got 9 bags altogether.

ReplyDeleteHello everyone,we have helped make the beach a more clean area because we were picking up litter and putting them in bags.I am happy doing that because we are stopping bird and other animals from eating litter.I hope we can do this again sometime. Darby
ReplyDeleteHi class 6 today was really fun but very cold. I was holding a bag and Caitlin Erin and Jennifer helped put rubbish in the bag but after a while it got to full and the bag was getting holes in it. I think that all P6 did there best of trying to pick up rubbish.

ReplyDeleteHi class 6 Today we were at the beach and did what we call Bag the Bruck. We were split into two groups. Then when we got to Scapa beach we were split into smaller groups to go and find litter. My group for finding litter was Daisy, Cierra, Aneisha and Kaylen. Once near the end of our trip we found a rope that was firmly stuck into the ground. we all tried to take it out of the ground. Once we noticed it was almost time to leave we left a small group to keep trying to get it out. I wasn't part of the small group so me and daisy went on to find more litter. We found a rope and found it very firmly stuck in the ground but not as firmly as the other rope.I got a grip and gave all my strength to drag it out of the sand. when we were walking I noticed the sand looked like fudge and then when I walked even further I thought it looked like coffee. Anyway I really enjoyed it and hope next time is even BETTER:). Sofia :)
ReplyDeleteHi class 6, Today was cold but also fun and tiring our group found a big rope stuck underneath the sand and me Cierra, Ryan and Kadyn were trying to get it out it took forever and the mini bus was already there but we got it out just in time and we put it in the bag full of rope plastic and lots of different types of materials. We all tried our best and I hope we do it again soon. From Aneisha
ReplyDeleteGreat it so fun i wish we dun more it was relay good to make wild life good with no rope or rubbish glass tin cans or plastic. Robert
ReplyDeleteHi everyone today we did bag of bruck at Scapa beach the weather made it a bit difficult but it was still really fun. We got 9 bags of litter it was mostly rope. But when me and Cierra was pulling a big bit of rope from the sand some of the sand went in my eye it stung for a while but it's ok now. But it was fun I want to do it again some time soon. Kaylen
ReplyDeleteHi class 6. We went to Scapa Beach, to do bag the bruck. It was horrible weather, but we where brave and still went. There was lots of rope and small plastic rings and string. there was lots of big pieces of rope stuck in the sand and seaweed there was a little rope that was stuck and took the whole class to pull out. We filled 9 bags in total we did extraordinary. Aiden Cierra
ReplyDeleteHello every one today we went on a school trip to Scapa beach to do bag the bruck. our whole school was meant to go to different places In Orkney to clean up rubbish but all the other class trips were cancel due to bad weather. we went on the mini bus to Scapa but it took two bus trips to get us all there. I went in my mums car because she was helping on the trip. When we got down onto the beach we went to the far end of the beach closest to the pear. I was mainly in a pair with Jennifer to pick up litter my mum was holding the bag for us so we could get all the litter without the bag blowing away. when we got back to the school we were a bit cold and wind swept so we got hot chocolate and a cookie. It was fun even if it was cold and I enjoyed it. Why don't you try to pick up some litter? you never know you might enjoy it to. Erin.R
ReplyDeleteHiya Class 6,
ReplyDeleteI had so much fun this morning doing bag the bruck. It was a bit cold but it was okay because I put on lots of lyers to keep Me warm, We colceted 9 bags of rubish what was really good, There was lots of little pecies of sting everywhere and it was under all the sea weed so it was hard to see it cause all you could see was a little bit of the sting to grip onto so you could pull it out. There was 2 or 3 big bags stuck under all of the really wet goo like sand, The sand was also black at some part what was really strange cause sand is normally peachy whitey and yellow ? Overall this morning was a amazing day and I hope sometime we can do it again but maybe a diffrant beach ?

ReplyDeleteHi class 6 on the 25 April 2017 we went to clear up one of the local beaches this one was called Scapa beach. We departed from school at 9:30 we travelled by minibus. When we got there it was cold, wet and windy. first we started on the wall on the right hand side of the steps. where the seaweed was there was a lot of little green strands of rope then someone found a piece of rope sticking out he started pulling but it didn't budge more people came to help and we eventually got it out of the sand. a little while later we went on the other side of the steps but there wasn't a lot rubbish there or seaweed then we got the mini bus back to school.

Hi class 6 bag the bruck was really good and we are all fighters and determined to do it because we braved the weather. I was surprised at how much litter there was, it was mostly rope and string you could see little bits of green and blue things sticking up from the seaweed. It was also cool because you didn't know how big the piece of litter was until you pulled it out of the ground. I found a lot of big pieces of litter at the beach like tubes bottles and lots more things. The boys found a MASSIVE tube well that's what it looked like to me it must of tooken them a while to dig that up or pull it from the ground. I was in a group with Erin.R Darby and Erin.Rs mum. We filled up one full bag and then half a bag. At some point it started to hailstone but only a little bit we sheltered at the dyke we were all warm because we were all rapped up and ready for the weather. My group (group one) filled up seven bags of litter i was amazed i didn't know that there would be that much litter at Scapa beach but when you get up close you realise how much there is. Sometimes you can mistake a piece of litter for a piece of seaweed. When we were finished we went back up the steps with all of our bags of litter and waited in the car park for Michael to come with the mini bus he took a little minuite but we didn't mind we soon found a way to occupy ourselves all we did was sit on the wall but it was still fun to do. Finally h came round the corner and we all cheered with happiness. We all filed on the mini bus found a seat and set off back to school. When we got to school we took off our boots at reception and walked in our socks back up to the classroom we took off our coats and hats and sat in the classroom until the other group came back. I hope we do something like this again. Jennifer
ReplyDeleteHi everyone this morning was so much fun. The weather was windy and on off hailing but we braved the weather anyway. We were split into 2 groups to make sure we picked up as much litter of the beach as possible (and because there wasnt anough space in the mini bus for all of us at once). I was in the second group and we had to sit in the class boiling in all our layers while the other group got the mini bus to the beach but it wasnt that bad as we only had to wait 10-15 miniutes. once we got to the beach there was no time to waste as we decided just to go for an hour so we set of to work straight away. We worked from one side of the steps and into the middle while the other group worked from the other end and we met in the middle. as the first group left we started to work on the other side. we hadnt been walking for long when we stumbled across a piece of rope buried in the ground. Our whole group was puling and digging away trying to get it out we spent so long trying to get it out that we left a little group of 4 to work away at it while the rest of us picked up litter futher on the beach. after about ten miunutes group of 4 appered with the rope they had got it out. In the end we colected a total of 9 bags all together. we are very pleased with ourselves for colecting 9 bags of litter in one hour. I hope we do somthing like this again soon. Daisy and Lauren

ReplyDeleteGreat effort P6, you all did really well at bagging the bruck considering the cold weather and the short time you were on the beach. Well done. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and that you all enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate when you got back to school! I certainly enjoyed a cup of warm coffee when I got home!Caroline (Erin R's mum)
ReplyDeleteWell done P6 , hope you all had fun despite the cold. Sandy and I will enjoy our walk at Scapa this week with less rubbish to avoid.
