  5. I enjoyed Kirbuster and Corrigall. I likeds seeing the open roof for the fire in Kirbuster. I also liked seeing the old kitchen in Kirbuster. I found the water carrying a little bit difficult because I had to balance the water on my shoulders. I loved making the rope at Corrigall because all you had to do was twist the handle and and more straw and twist it on. Over all I enjoyed going to Kirbuster and Corrigall.

    1. It looks as if you all had a great time. Visiting Kirbuster and Corrigall is a great way of bringing all your learning to life. Do you think you would have liked to live at Corrigall over 100 years ago?

  6. The most enjoyable bit in Kirbuster was when we got to find out the names of machinery they used. An interesting bit was the smoke house because we learned that the square hole in the roof was to let the smoke get out the house. It was surprising to see how small the box beds were because I thought they would be a bit bigger. In Corrigall a interesting bit was how they carried buckets of water but it was very difficult to carry. Jenna

  9. The activites you did there look really fun. What kind of other things did you do? It was really fun going and seeing what people would have lived. Also doing everyday jobs like carrying water. did everyone else think it was fun? Was strip the willow fun? Also did you enjoy the trip? My favourite bit was telling off hermione when we did the hammering. Was the hammering difficult or was it enjoyable? When we did the poetry it was hard because some of the words were difficult to say. How many activitys did you do on the trip and were they challenging? Overall it was great going to find out about the past.

  10. The best thing I done was making the straw ropes in the barn because it was hard but so much fun and my rope kept on snapping. The most intresting thing we did was the making the flower and crushing the bare banic. Callum.c

  11. I think that the poems were clear and loud enough. It looked really fun and a little bit difficult. The singing was really good except in Kirkwall Bay some people said Michael Bay, but Orkney Anthem was great. I would like to try saying the poems.-Kieran

  13. This was very interesting and fun we learned about how they made rope out of straw the and the work they did was very hard because they had to do it all by hand . if they needed to get water they had to have a big curved Plank of wood on there shoulders and walk far distances it was not that heavy but there was only a little bit of water in the buckets. The buckets are on ends of the wood. Going to Corrigall and Kirbuster was really fun.

  15. Our day out to Kirbuster and Corrigail was very interesting because we have been learning about it for a while and we actually got to go out and do a bit of hands on learning. It was quit interesting to work without tractors and other machines like water carrying was hard because it was hard not to spill and you had to walk for quit along time just to get water. Making flour was very hard because you have grind it and then it would go into a big bucket so it took quit a long time to get flour. Washing clothes was in my opinion pretty hard because all you had was a small metal tub and hot water with your dirty clothes and soap and you put soap on the clothes or whatever was dirty and you gave it a good old scrub on the board. 17. Who enjoyed it? I enjoyed carrying the water buckets with and without the planks of wood that were holding it up. I found making straw ropes surprising because my group managed to work out how to do it without the instructor,I also enjoyed that because I accidentally tore the rope in two. I found it difficult to do the washing up because I went first and I had never seen it be done before. Hermione
