Bowling festival

After a couple of bowling practice sessions at school we had a successful trip to the Bowling Festival with some of our class members in the winning and runner-up teams.

It was nice to be in mixed teams with children from other schools.

We had to be patient and listen carefully to the information about how the games were organised and where our team would be playing and when.

We were playing on an artificial surface like a carpet and had to follow the rules about looking after it.

By the end of the festival some of the teams were getting quite skilled and competitive.
It was a great morning out of school finding out about another activity in our community.

  4. It was really fun and competitive and you were able to mix with people from other schools. my group won 3 of our games and lost 2 and we made it into the semi finals. To play you had to realize how and where the ball would bend or would it bend at all? which way would the ball bend? You had to take all these things into consideration to get perfect. i hit the jack once and i was very proud of myself, the jack is the ball you are aiming to get your ball towards that means if you hit the jack then you had perfect aiming for that turn.

  5. The bowling festival was quite fun but if I was in-charge I would make sure that everyone knew when to get ready to go on and have their turn. It was fun all in all. When I was walking back to school I was walking with Leona and she had just won along with Lee. I said that her mum would be proud, but she butted in and said her dad would be proud too.

  7. bowls was very interesting because there is a lot of strategies involved. Kiera did very well after the first game because in the first game she got it in the ditch twice.

  11. I loved doing bowling, it showed great teamwork especially with the other schools. You got to know people that you probably didn't know. Everybody got really excited when they hit the jack which was the ball you had to aim for. They also got excited when their group won. People sometimes in my group aimed for the ditch, especially Archie in our class! Everyone in our group laughed when it happened. After you bowled it was nice to just watch everybody else bowl. I hardly knew who was in which team but sometimes I could spot people from our class. When it was the finals of it Lee and Leona's team won, Charlie and Anna's team came second. Then we had to have a picture taken at the end, I was standing at the back. It was fantastic and I wouldn't be surprised if everyone else agreed with me when I say I want to do another one! Congratulations to Lee, Anna, Charlie and Leona for getting medals and great job to everyone else from the other schools there for trying their best, you all did a great job. When I was watching I saw a lot of people doing fantastic and I thought they would probably win. Great job everyone and if we do it again lets hope all of you get lucky and possibly win! Jenna

  13. I liked the bowling because we were playing with and against people from other schools. Most of my bowls were good but a lot of my bowls went in the ditch, but i still enjoyed it.

  14. I loved doing bowling. The first time I heard heard about it I that it was bowling as in throwing a ball at pins in a bowling ally, but it is nothing like that. You play on a field of court of artifitial grass and there were little mats to but you knee on when you were bowling. The bowls have a heavy side and a light side - the heavy side makes it curve so you have to hold the heavy side to your stomach which is the side with the small dot and the side with the small dot is the light side. We were put in groups from A to C and 1 to 6 I was in A5 and my team won 1 game out of all our games. In the team you were in there would be some glaitness som st andrews. I thought everyone did really well. - Kieran
