I really enjoyed getting dressed up. We put on a stripey coat made from a Hudson's Bay
Company 6point blanket, a pair of warm shoes made of animal skin and a woven belt like the voyageurs used.I also got to hold a real beaver skin which felt smooth and soft but also quite upsetting to think that it had been a real beaver. After when we got to take off the outfit it felt way better because we were way too hot. I learned that they used to kill lots of animals to make warm clothes. |
I really liked how Kilian looked in the outfit. He had a fur hat on and he had a tunic on that went down to his knees. The other person held the snow shoes. I like when Katy wore the costume becasue she looked like a real Hudson Bay Company person with a 6 point blanket coat on. She also had boots on. My favourite item was the wooden snow goggles. It looked like you wouldn't be able to see much with them on but you could see a lot. It was really fun. Charlotte
ReplyDeleteIt was really fun dressing Kilian and Morven up as john ray and his assistant my favourite part was when we got to try on snow goggles. It was really funny when Kilian said it was very itchy . Morven really liked the little dressing gown that she got to where . My favourite part was when we tried on the goggles it was fun.

When John Rays sea chest came into our class it looked cool. Inside the chest there was snow shoes, a cloak that was a replica of what John Ray whore, a furry hat, some wooden snow googles and a scarf. My favorite item out of the chest were the snow shoes they looked so amazing in real life. I learnt that on the jacket the amount of stripes on it is how much it is worth. by Amelie
ReplyDeleteWhen we first looked in we saw loads of stuff like music,pictures,cloths and more. Some people wore the cloths and they had to hold beaver skin or a doctor bag. My favorite thing was the snowshoes because i didn't know that they were that big there almost as tall as Kilian and he also wore them. I learnt that they made paddles out of trees and that they used crook knifes. Christopher
ReplyDeleteI liked the John Rae Sea Chest because we learnt new things and I thought it was really cool to see all the things in it. I think my favorite item in the Sea Chest was John Rae's doctor bag because I thought it was interesting.
ReplyDeleteI did not no that the paddle was so light and thought it was cool. In the John Rae sea chest there was the paddle some thing like sunglasses. I learnt that the sunglasses were to keep the sun reflection of the sun off the snow. My favorite item was the snowshoes because I had never seen one. Ian
ReplyDeleteIn the box there was books, paintings, beavers fur, snow shoes and clothes.I learnt lots of facts about John Rae but i learnt how to make snow shoes and a canoe. I also learnt how the voyagers would camp over night and the food that they made to eat at night.

I thought the sea chest was very interesting. There was blankets'clothes and beaver skin. I thought the most interesting thing was the beaver skin it felt very satisfying Kilian and Lachie dressed up as John Rae they had boots'gloves'hats and snowshoes and Katy and Morven were trading people the had the beaver skin i learned all about what people wore and used and traded. ReplyDeleteIn the John Rae sea chest there was clothes and items like cloaks and snow shoes, sunglasses and beaver fur.That is what John Rae and the voyagers would of worn when they were in the arctic. My favorite item was the beaver fur because of he different textures. I learned that the clothes that they wore kept them really warm. Lily
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing from the chest was the snow shoes because it looked like the real snow shoes that John Ray made. In the box there was fact books cool outfits that Morven Kilian Katy and Lachie wore. There was also beaver fur that they would have traded with the North Americans for pots pans and clothing. I learned that John Ray traveled miles to help people and cure they're illnesses. By Hayley
ReplyDeleteI really liked when Kilian and Morven were dressed up in the outfits. I also liked looking at all the equipment that John Rae used when he was traveling. If I was wearing one of the outfits it would probably look like I work at the Hudsons Bay company. My favorite piece of equipment would be the snow shoes because they are a really good design. The activity was really fun and interesting. Kenny
ReplyDeleteIn the treasure chest there were slippers, a pipe, a dressing gown, sunglasses, leg warmers, a hat and some pictures along with books. It was very cool. It felt like we had all stepped back in time. My favourite item was the pipe. I think it was very good that we all had the chance to look at some of the things that John Rae wore.

I liked when we had the John Rae sea chest. There was a lot of books,tools and a lot of hunting stuff . My favourite item was the sun glasses because they where cool and they had a way smaller space to see out of. My most interesting object was the big brown bag that John Rae had with him. I learnt that on every boat that sailed had a HBC flag on it. Morgan R

ReplyDeleteMe and Kilian got dressed up in clothes for our John Rae project I was John Rae's assent. The clothes were really itchy and annoying is well.
All the same it was really fun to dress up in the clothes and know what it was like when John Rae was in the clothes.

I really liked looking at all the things in the John Rae sea chest. It was fun putting the snow goggles on and walking around because you can see really well.

The John Rae sea chest was full to the top whit items such as clothing, book's,beaver pelt and snowshoes. My favourite item in the box was the snowshoes. I learned how good he was at hunting.
