Dioramas
Yesterday we were making dioramas. We decided if
we wanted to be in pairs or on our own. We decided an animal and its habitat.
First the people who brought in boxes handed them out to other people. We then
drew an idea that we hoped to achieve. Once we had our ideas we went to get
research. Then we started by cutting a peep hole and also making our background
to block the corners. We drew on the background and then set it in. then we
stuck things to the bottom of the box before putting in sand or leaving it
bare. Then we stuck things to the top of the box lid. We then cut a hole in the
lid and put cellophane in it to make the lighting green or blue or silver.
We
all really enjoyed it and are pleased with our achievement.

hi class 6 I really enjoyed looking at all the different dioramas and the different decorations and detail in the they were all different which was a good thing. I also enjoyed judging them. my favourite one would probably be kaylens arctic fox display she layed it out neatly and did lots of detail of the arctic foxs habitat i like how she did cotton wool for the snow. Everybody elses ones were very good but kaylens one probably stood out for me the best. jennifer
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennifer that's very nice of you for saying that about my diorama :) kaylen

Hi class 6 yesterday we had the best day ever we made dioramas I was in a group with Daisy and we did our one on the rain forest. Our one had trees, bushes, leaves, monkeys, reptiles and a huge waterfall leading into a river. We also made everything flat and did not rush it because in the end it was worth it. I really really hope we can do the very soon!

Hi class 6 all the dioramas are AMAZING!!! Everyone did an amazing job. I made one with Erin.R and we did the coral reef and it turned out really well. We did a background of fish and sea and on the floor we did sand and rocks and behind one of the rock there was an octopus coming out from behind it. Behind the others there were fish like marlin, nemo and dory. There was a starfish on one of the rocks and a jelly fish coming out behind another rock. We had a turtle hanging from the lid of the box and there was a hole in the lid for light. I cant wait to make the one for Kirkwall and it will be interesting to find out what part of Kirkwall everyone else will do. By Aneisha

ReplyDeleteHi class 6 yesterday we made dioramas. On monday I did a personal presantation in front of the class and it was about how to make animal box houses and because a group of people were away to the palaces we could make them but insted of making a box house we made dioramas. My diorama was a rainforest and in it was a crocodile, leopard, monkeys, trees, stick insect, ants ,leaves, vines a waterfall ,and bushes. I enjoyed making them .Cierra
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed doing the dioramas and I was working Declan. We choose to do a rainforest first we planed on a bit of paper. Then we got a bit of paper and curved it to get rid of the corners. Then we decorated our background after we decorated our background. Then we did the floor and we had to make most things 3d. I hope we do it again.

For my floor I got some cotton wool for snow it was really soft but it was annoying to glue it in but I did it and I really hope we can do it again soon

ReplyDeleteHi class 6 I really enjoyed doing our dioramas yesterday it was a good way of learning about habitats and animals that live together and animals that don't. I was with Erin.k and we made a tropical rain forest. we started by cutting a peek hole but our box was made of wood and ms Mackay couldn't cut it so we had to take it down to the janitors to get the peek hole and light hole cut out but just before we took it down we cut a piece of paper to fit the box for the background it was called a cyclorama. We colored it in putting a waterfall at the back and at the sides a lot of trees. After that we got our box back put our cyclorama in it and looked through our peek hole it looked really good but it needed some more green so that it looked like there were even more trees. The next thing we did was add standing trees and bushes and we also added a waterfall that went into a river then a pond. In the pond we added two alligators one that you could see the hole of and another that you could just see the mouth we also added a frog. The final step was to add things hanging from the roof. We added two vines one with a sloth hanging of it and another with a monkey hanging of it. We also added some long leaves to add the affect that there was big trees growing much higher. The final step was to add green transperant paper to show that it was a green rain-forest we added that then it was done. I really enjoyed doing this and I think they all came out really cool. I hope we can do somthing like this again really soon. Daisy
ReplyDeleteWow P6, I love your dioramas, they are really impressive. By your comments it looks like you all enjoyed creating them too. Well done. Caroline (Erin R's mum)
ReplyDeleteHi Class 6,
ReplyDeleteI sneaked into your class room at lunch time today to look at your dioramas. Ms Mackay told me all about how much you enjoyed making them and how you evaluated them afterwards.
I particularly liked the one of an ocean habitat with the clownfish near the front. My eyes were not able to focus on the clownfish at the same time as focusing on the back of the diorama and this gave it an excellent sense of depth. Another one I liked had only very small holes in the top so that not much light could get in. This was really effective and gave an appearance of sunlight breaking between clouds.
Excellent work!
Mr Ross - P4
Hello everyone I loved doing the dioramas. I was in a pair with Aneisha we made a coral reef and it was great fun! Everyone made really good dioramas there was rain forests, jungles and snow lands as well as some more good under water scenes. I hope we do this again really soon because I enjoyed it. Erin.R
