Wideford Hill

Today we 'finished' our trip to Wideford Hill by going up in the minibus to see the view.
Wow! We could see the mountains in Scotland, Westray, Auskerry, Deerness South Ronaldsay and everything in between. We had a really good view of Kirkwall and saw how the sea would have come into where our school is now back in the time of the Vikings. We did our 'keep warm' dance and collected words for a word cloud.

  3. It was much less tiring than when we walked up and it took a shorter amount of time to do it. Now I know where to take my dogs for a walk.

  11. At wideford hill we went in 2 groups I was in the second one. We got a mini bus up the road to it. When we got to the top we went over to see the veiw. When ever I go to wideford I always think something and that something is when you look through grass or mud, you see insect that belong to that habbitat and the insects see a big tall town kind of place like what we see, but when your up wideford its like Kirkwall is the grass or mud and we are looking down on to them.

  12. We did our keep warm dances and Keira taught me hers. It was really fun. I could see the peedie sea , Tesco and school. We could see Hoy and some other islands and we also saw Scotland in the distance. We saw Finstown and in Kirkwall we saw the Cathedral. The view was really clear and we could see a lot of things. It was cool to see the mountains of Scotland and you could see them well. I want to go back in P6 and see the view again. Courtney

  16. I thought it was lots of fun going up wideford! I realised it was much higher up when I looked down the hill to Scapa. There was a metal circle on a stone thing that showed where lots of places were like London, Edinburgh, Hoy, etc. We also looked down at Kirkwall and saw how far away it was. I thought it was much clearer from when we last we went! Kalle

  18. I enjoyed going up Wideford Hill yesterday. We had our notebooks to note down words to describe the view. I had 10 words and there was words like: huge, beautiful and much more. We went up in a minibus because we walked up Wideford last time and it wasn’t very nice weather so we didn’t get to see the view so we earned the bus trip to see the view by walking up. We saw Stronsay, the mountains of Scotland, Rousay, Westray and we saw Deerness. Zoe.
