We had a brilliant session in canoes at The Peedie Sea for our outdoor activity day. We split into two groups and Group A went across to paddle in the morning, Group B in the afternoon. After getting to grips with the kit and equipment Group A helped portage the canoes and put two boats together .to create a really stable craft. Each group practised paddle strokes and turning and then we played a few games. Unsure if we were pirates or Vikings the groups competed hard and worked as teams to pick up floating balls and 'steal' the treasure from the other boat to win. We also had a leisurely 'sail' using a tarp and a kayak paddle - very relaxing... Group B helped tidy up and portaged the canoes back to the trailer at the end.
We had a great time and hope we can get out and use canoes on the Peedie Sea more often!

You forgot to mention the excitement of doing maths for the other part of the day, Ms Mackay! What a great experience for everyone. It was such a super day for it too.

I loved canoeing at the peedie sea. I have never been canoeing before I was really nervous but as soon as got on the canoe I was fine. I really enjoyed it and I hope we go again.

I thought it was really fun canoeing and Ron was a great teacher. I liked going on the journey around the Peedie Sea and then we put up a sail. At the end we played a game where each set of boats had to steal treasure from the other boat.

it was fun i was in the secend graup. it was cool my arms started to hurt when i padeld for a wile the first graup had to get eveything out but the secend graup had to put eveything back. miles p5

ReplyDeleteIt was cool at the peedie sea and there were 3 competitions and our group won two. I liked the challenge wear you had to get the sponge balls out of the water, there were two rounds of that and we won the second one and there was another challenge were you had to bring a tub around the buoy and we won because the other team took it round for us and that was my excuse so we won. from Ewan p5...

It was really fun going canoeing. I have always wanted to go canoeing or kayaking. I would love to go again. When we played the game of treasure (my team won) then we had to pack away the canoes and things that were on the canoes and us. When we were about to get off all of us wanted to jump in the peedie sea! But we couldnt cause it is to cold and we dont have the proper clothes to jump in.

I really enjoyed every thing about the canoeing exept getting all the canoes out. I really enjoyed when we had to collect the balls the first time we lost because we only got 4 balls but the other team got 6 but on the second round we got 7 and they got 3. I really hope that we will get to do it again.

Going canoeing was really fun. Nobody fell in but I got a little bit wet. We played a game at the end where you had to get the treasure. My team had it but then the other team stole it from us. We had a competition to see who could get the most plastic balls and the people in my boat got 6 the first time and 3 the second. At one point it was shallow and I could see the bottom. My arms were tired when we finished but it was really fun. I hope we can do it again next year. Courtney
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed canoeing on Friday! I wasn't sure at first but I really enjoyed it. I liked the games we played the ball game was my favourite but I did like the treasure game as well. At first we thought Ron's group was cheating but he said the treasure had to go round the boy and my group went round it and then they won because they stole the treasure of us. I also enjoyed playing pass the pigs with Mrs Linklater!

I liked everything about canoeing but it was hard work. I hope we get to do it again! I think everyone enjoyed it and I think everybody should have a go at doing it. I was in a group with Kate, Elin, Ewan and Miles and Ron. We found things floating on top of the water and Kate thought they were baby eels. I didn't have a seat so I kneeled down. It was really fun and I hope everyone enjoyed it!

I liked going canoeing at the peedie sea I think it is good going out and having fun and we don't go out and do this much. I hope we do this agen soon and it was realy hot as well. by kiah

The games where also fun I was at the front so me and Scott both had to paddle really hard same with kalle because him and Scott switched places halfway through. I would love to do it again in the peedie sea and nobody capsized not a lot of people where wet . At times I accidently splashed Courtney but she wasn't really wet. Other people should try canoeing its not scary but its really fun by keira p5

My favourite games were trying to get all the ball on to your boat and the yellow tub thing when we had to put it on the back of your and take it around the boy my groop won. we also put up a sale then we had to put every thing away it was fun.

It was a little hard when you did it for while my arms where getting very sore but it was really fun I got splashed I was very wet when I was rowing away from the side but it was fun!

I thought going to the peedie sea in the canoes rocked!!! Everybody enjoyed it and so did I because we got to put up a sail (that we didn't really use),paddle about the peedie sea and play a cool Viking pirating game that sadly... we lost! Hope we can go back!!! P.S. I like the pictures put into the peedie video.

on friday we did canoeing and we spilt up in two groups group a and group b group stared in the morning. Group b went in the afternoon i was in group a and i was in a conoe with kalle,scott,keira,courtney,miss mackay fist we got told to pull the canoe out off the traler and then we put the canoe in a place and then we got in a canoe and we paddled to the peddie sea.
ReplyDeleteI thought from the pictures that you became more confident the longer you spent on the water. Your smiles got bigger! It was nice to read your comments about the experience, which proved that the bigger smiles were because you became more confident. Next time, I'd like to join you, and I am sure lots of Mums and Dads would too!
